México: [Imperio de Mexico], 1863. illus. Mexican broadside regarding immigration registration and laws, published in the 19th century by the government of the Second Empire in Mexico. CONTENTS (in English): "Important advice to foreigners in Mexico. According to the law of the 3th. August 1863 every foreigner landing on the territory of the Empire is obliged to present himself to the nearest political authority of the place where he desires to reside, or to the secretary of foreign and naval affairs should he be at the Capital to put his name on the register and ask for the matricular certificate, without which document no authority nor public functionary will recognise him in his quality of a foreigner, and no judge will admit his complaints in matters of law. Should any foreigner not comply with this order during the first four months after his arrival, he shall be fined with ten dollars, and another dollar for every other month of delay in putting his name in the register."
