Minor publication use, overall about fine. A Raisin in the Sun, written by Lorraine Hansberry, debuted on Broadway in 1959. Its title, from a poem by Langston Hughes about a Black family in Chicago, deals with themes of housing discrimination, racism and assimilation. There were 530 performances at the Ethel Barrymore and Belasco Theatres, directed by Lloyd Richards. Ossie Davis replaced Sidney Poitier during the run. There were four Tony award nominations, including for Poitier. One portrait is of Claudia McNeil, the other features Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee dancing.
