Cortez speaks with producer David O. Selznick on the set of Since You Went Away, 194, mimeographed text affixed. Double weight portrait of Cortez with camera on set of The Night of the Hunter. Trimmed for publication, with small margins on all sides. Date stamped Jan 1955 on verso. Cortez next to a massive camera on an unidentified film, ca. 1960. Cinematographer Stanley Cortez, who was twice nominated for an Oscar, is well remembered for his work on Orson Welles' The Magnificent Ambersons and Charles Laughton's The Night of the Hunter -- a film which has been widely praised for its innovative use of lighting and cinematography, in which Cortez managed to endow the camera movements with a musical quality.
