Cinematographer Stanley Cortez, who was twice nominated for an Oscar, is well remembered for his work on Orson Welles' The Magnificent Ambersons and Charles Laughton's The Night of the Hunter -- a film which has been widely praised for its innovative use of lighting and cinematography, in which Cortez managed to endow the camera movements with a musical quality.
