[Claremont, California]: Scripps College Press [Professor Kitty Maryatt], 2005. First and Limited Edition. Accordion. Near fine. One of 102 copies, folio size, [40] pp., signed by all contributors. Each semester, the students of the Book Arts and Typography Class at Scripps College arrive and work "toward a common goal of creating a cohesive artists' book." This book came about as a result of "a novel approach: various physical and emotional attributes of a major character were suuggested....[a]s individual stories were written about her, with no pre-conceived sequence, our character's personality became clearer and evolved further..." (n.b., from the Prelude, p. [2]).
The "story" is enchanting to read, each page with an utterly imaginative presentation: there are doors that open, pop-ups of various shapes and sizes, ribbons, strings and buttons abound to provide tactile interest, and there is even a volvelle.
Issued in an edition of 102 copies, as of this writing we see no other copies online; our search of OCLC locates thirty-four institutional holdings.
