Bernard Albert Wrightson (1948-2017), whose career creating horror art spanned over 45 years, is most known as the co-creator of the muck creature in Swamp Thing. In addition, he worked on a variety of mystery and anthology titles for DC Comics and its main rival, Marvel Comics. Wrightson considered his illustrations for Frankenstein to be some of his most personal work.
