Includes Phillis Wheatley's poem "On Recollection" printed on p. 214 of the second volume. The poem originally appeared in The London Magazine in 1772 and was compiled in Poems on Various Subjects, Religious and Moral the following year. Contemporary appearances of Wheatley, the first published Black woman poet, are increasingly scarce in retail.
