A touching association copy from the estate of Sherry Elizabeth Vetter, a Berkeley graduate who dated Brautigan in San Francisco. She wears a different dress in the outtake photo but has the same lovely smile, posing with the chocolate cake she made herself - a reference to the first story in this collection. He wrote to her while she was visiting family in Kentucky on November 4, three weeks before he signed the book to her:
"Fog is the story here in San Francisco. We've had three days of it now. I like it but look forward to seeing the heads and tails of your shiny little face.
