Each issue features covers that are frequently fantastic color off-set lithographs. PM was highly influential publication in both historical elements of design, but more importantly the push to modernism. Issues contained articles on the printing process, typography, books and the art/science of advertising; while being profusely illustrated with engravings in both color and b&w, printing samples, tipped in plates and the occasional attached booklet, brochure or other printing sample. Some key contributors include: Wassily Kandinsk, Laszlo Moholy-Nagy, Paul Rand, Gustav Jensen, Herbert Bayer, Jan Tschichold Walter Gropius, Lucian Bernhard, Lester Beall, Piet Mondrian, Joseph Binder, Samuel Bernard Schaeffer, Peter Piening, Frederic Goudy, Jean Carlu, Georgy Kepes, Herbert Matter, L. Sandusky, Alex Steinweiss, and many more.
