ß First edition in book form of volumes one and two, comprising 51 parts numbered 1-25 and 27-52 (i.e. complete, number 26 was skipped). A Catholic critique of Fox's influential book. A third volume was published some years later. Each part opens with a lively woodcut depicting a Catholic martyrdom or other act of persecution. William Eusebius Andrews (1773-1837) was an English journalist and the son of Catholic converts. He was the founder of numerous of short-lived Catholic newspapers.
