Louis Brun (1884-1939) was an old friend of Giraudoux and a literary insider. He was a director of Bernard Grasset and had published Giraudoux's first book, Les Provinciales. Brun was murdered by his wife in a fit of jealousy. She then attempted to drown herself but was rescued. His books were dispersed at Drouot in 1941-42
