Two (2) Scarce Metamorphics Advertising Acorn Stoves and Ranges

  • Chicago, Illinois: Kerting Lith. Co, 1890
Chicago, Illinois: Kerting Lith. Co, 1890. Two (2) scarce metamorphic advertisement cards promoting Acorn Stoves and Ranges on the verso. We have not encountered either example before. The first depicts two young boys in military costumes. When the flap is lifted, they are transformed into two adult soldiers in caricature, one long and lanky and the other squat. The second depicts a little boy talking to a bird on his hand. When the flap is lifted, the scene changes to show the little bird turned into a large stork biting his nose, with a large pansy smiling on a stump. His neck has stretched out in a humorous and surreal fashion. Each measures approx. 2.75" by 3" folded, and 4" by 3" unfolded.
