An informative historical account of the oyster industry in Whitstable, Kent, with descriptions of the history of the fishery, the structure of the Company of Free Fishers and Dredgers of Whitstable, and the cultural significance of the "Royal Whitstable Native" oyster. Included in the fifty-seven photographic illustrations by W.H. Reeves is the frontispiece, depicting a fisherman "ready for weather". Internally clean and sound. In publisher's gray wrappers, titled in black on the front panel. Some light wear to wrapper at spine, author's name neatly inked to the spine, otherwise very good or better.
