Grey dust jacket with black titling to spine and front cover, with illustration to front cover; jacket is wrapped in a new archival mylar sleeve. Book is in full gray cloth binding with gilt lettering on black title block to spine. Dust jacket is moderately toned, with heavier toning to spine. Small scuffs and abrasions to jacket covers and spine, with shallow chipping at the head and tail. Boards show light wear, with soiling and small areas of exposed board along the top edges. Light soiling over title on spine. Text block edges show light wear and moderate toning, with foxing along the fore edge. Interior is clean. Inscribed in black ink by Richard Wright to former Historian Emeritus of the Smithsonian Institution Silvio Beldini: "To-- Silvio Beldini; Sincerely, Richard Wright; 1/22/40; New York".
