Original Archive of 1980s Fashion Photography

Extensive and vivid collection of fashion press photography primarily detailing Belgium fashion of the late '80s. Shoulder pads, power suits, bold patterns, and exaggerated geometric shapes are all very much in evidence in this simultaneously nostalgic and inspirational collection of almost 500 individual press photos. Produced by various European designers for press kits, events, and the like, preppy styles, animal prints, frills, sweats, chunky knits, and other '80s stalwarts are all represented. Images vary in size, and predominately feature female models, although male and children fashions are also present. Brands and designers in the collection include Cotton Company, Jacques Laloux, Chamail, Triumph International, Beatrice Hympendahl, and many others. An inspirational and evocative selection capturing the look of the waning days of the decade. Various sizes, from 5'' x 7'' to 8'' x 10,'' with majority approximately 7'' x 9.5''. 490 black-and-white photographs, plus three color. 409 with captions stamped or squibs affixed to verso; 10 unpaired squibs laid in. Photographs with gentle curling, trace wear to a few corners. Occasional damage to emulsions (largely unobtrusive) on a handful of images, some with small remnants of adhesive/paper tab to verso, else sharp and clean.
