By [Oklahoma]: [Pride of Highland Development]
Shawnee, OK, 1920. Two broadsides, each 12.5 x 8.25 inches. Minor toning, foxing, and edge wear, each with soft horizontal fold near bottom. Very good. An unrecorded pair of promotional documents advertising plots of land in the "Pride of Highland Allotment," a "Beautiful Addition" on the west side of Shawnee, Oklahoma. The land on offer belongs to John Kasmeier, proprietor of the Little Pride of Highland Farm located a mile west of Shawnee. Uncommonly, these plots are being offered by Reverend Father Blaise Harischabalet, Priest of the nearby St. Benedict's Church. Reverend Harischabalet provides details on the available land, the advantages of Shawnee for business, some demographics on the town, and an offer of a free allotment of land in his circular letter titled, "A Splendid Opportunity." The price for the plots ranged from $75 to $150 for "the best corner lots." The circular is accompanied by a plat map of the available lots from Highland Avenue down to Kasmeier Avenue, with about equal portions of land available on each side of the Missouri, Kansas and Teas Railroad line. We fail to locate any other examples of these informative documents offering prime land in Shawnee, Oklahoma in the early 20th century for a development that was apparently never built.
