[Pennsylvania], 1784. Very good, torn along edges and folds, contents soiled, otherwise clean.. 1 sheet. 7.25 x 6 inches. December 11th, 1784. Muhlenberg, then justice of the peace and register of wills and deeds of newly organized Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, writes to Jonathan Nicholson, Esq., requesting the order for 75 dollars due to him, by the state, be delivered to Mr. A. Epple.
Frederick Augustus Conrad Muhlenberg (1750 – 1801) was a minister and politician, who went on to be elected the first Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, and as such the first to sign the Bill Of Rights, as well a delegate to the Pennsylvania state constitutional convention and a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Pennsylvania.
Jonathan Nicholson (1758-1800) was a Welsh-born business man in Philadelphia, appointed clerk to the Board of Treasury of the Continental Congress in 1778 and appointed state Comptroller General in Philadelphia in 1882. He would later partner which Robert Morris,
