- Chattanooga, TN: MacGowan-Cooke Ptg. Co., 1905
Chattanooga, TN: MacGowan-Cooke Ptg. Co., 1905. Very good. Lithographed undivided-back postcard with a large flap, which, when opened - reveals accordion-style, monochrome, photographic images, n. d. (ca 1905); card - 3 1/4 x 5 1/4; images - 2 1/4 x 3 1/4; 12 panels (images to rectos only); mild wear and a few minor spots to card; in about very good condition.A lovely and quite-scarce souvenir, it was published by the MacGowan-Cooke Printing Company - a prominent early 20th-century printing and engraving plant located in Chattanooga, Tennessee, known for producing historical documents and literature, including works related to African-American history and journalist and author Henry Peck Fry. The company was co-owned by the MacGowan and Cooke families. Prolific novelist and the first president of the Tennessee Woman's Press Club Grace MacGowan Cooke (1863 1944) would work as a bookkeeper for the family business. The current souvenir featured views of landmarks around Chattanooga, including Fort Oglethorp, the US Custom House, Oak Street, Fountain Square, etc.
