Accordion-style, monochrome, photographic images in a blue, card stock folder with a flap (to be mailed closed); 16 double-sided panels - each 3 1/4 x 5 1/4; folder - 3 1/2 x 5 1/2; a few minor spots to folder; in very good or better condition.The Great New England Hurricane of 1938 was one of the deadliest and most destructive tropical cyclones to hit the United States. The estimated number of its victims was upwards of 680, the destroyed homes - approximately 57 000, and the losses - $306 million (almost $5 billion today). The current souvenir focused primarily on the damage in Newport, Rhode Island - showing the destruction on Third Beach, the flooding of the Police Station, the broken Long Wharf, and so on.
