The first British edition of Chandler's "Hollywood novel." Issued in June 1949, it actually preceded the American (Houghton Mifflin) edition, published in September. Basis for the 1969 film MARLOWE, with James Garner in the title role. NOTE again that this book bears a FACSIMILE dust jacket, to serve the dual purpose of protecting the book from further wear and enhancing its appearance on the shelf; its presence has not been factored in to our pricing. .
