A scarce and little known work illustrated by Florence Upton, issued two years before the first of the Golliwogg books (with Bertha Upton) that made her famous. OCLC finds only two institutional holdings, one the copyright deposit copy at LOC. A lovely copy. 8.25'' x 6''. Original quarter gilt-stamped cloth, gilt floral paper boards. Illustrated by Upton with 9 halftone plates and a vignette. 65, [1] pages. Ink gift inscription from Christmas 1893 to front fly leaf. Light toning to spine, corners a touch worn. Hinges firm, interior clean.
