Bonnie Prudden (1914-2011) Bonnie Prudden was an American physical fitness pioneer, rock climber and mountaineer. Her report to President Dwight Eisenhower based on her 1955 research known as "The Report that Shocked the President", on the unfitness of American children as compared with their European counterparts, led to the formation of the President's Council on Youth Fitness. Her Fitness Book laid the foundational blueprint for the modern fitness movement by shifting exercise from an elite athletic pursuit to a daily necessity for the general public. An essential work for any fitness library, SIGNED copies of any of her early books are SCARCE. .
