First printing, small quarto size, 551 pp. Yehuda Amichai (born Ludwig Pfeuffer, 1924-2000) is considered by many today to be one of Israel's greatest poets. Written in Hebrew, his poems have been translated into forty languages (n.b., per the Poetry Foundation). The work of thirteen translators are included in this publication, including Ted Hughes (1930-1998), "one of the outstanding British poets of his generation, [who] became a close friend of Yehuda Amichae and collaborated with him on the translation of a volume of Amichai's verse, 'Time'..." (p. 541).
