S. l.: By the author, 1947. Very good. First edition; 8 x 5 3/4; pp. 3-72; light-green wraps (a bit faded), printed in black; what-appears-to-be an unrecorded, pictorial dust jacket - designed by Konstantin Kuznetsov; illustrated with black & white plates; jacket with tiny chips to tips of spine and closed cuts to folds of flaps; book with paper along spine of wraps a bit brittle; overall in very good condition. Volodymyr Hai - the first postwar Ukrainian emigre author to publish a fantasy novella (the current one), written specifically, and very well-received, for readers in the DP camps in Germany. Konstantin Kuznetsov (1886 - 1943) - renowned Russian engraver, painter, illustrator, and designer, who was particularly interested in illustrating children's books and headed the art circle of the Department for the Propaganda of the Children's Books at the Museum of Public Education of the RSFSR.
