A unique illustrated protest catalogue that marked the beginning of El Proyecto Catia, as told to a child. The story of after the fall of the dictator, Marcos Pérez Jímenez in 1959. Families moved in and established ranches and used the train for work. Following Chávez's victory on February 2, 1999, a constituent process began that sought to "dignify" working-class neighborhoods like Catia.Tragedy of 1999: In December, torrential rains caused a national catastrophe. The government implemented the "Plan for the Dignification of the Venezuelan Family," with humanitarian aid and militarized relocation for victims from Catia and Vargas.The neigborhood protested the attempt to bulldoze the train and area forced them to leave the area.
