Brookline, MA, 1933. SCHONBERG, Arnold. Autograph Musical Bars, Signed. Brookline, MA: 1933.

A small (5 1/2 x 2 inch; 140 x 52 mm) piece of pink paper with three bars of a musical phrase and signed "Arnold Schoenberg Brookline 31. XII. 33" Also with the word "Autogramm" in front of the music staff. On the verso of the paper are three more lines of music with the phrase " "con brio" which means "with spirit or vigor." The paper with some minor smudging and an impression of a paperclip. Otherwise a very nice example.

"Arnold Schoenberg was a pivotal figure in 20th-century music, born on September 13, 1874, in Vienna to an Orthodox Jewish family. His early music training began with violin lessons and was largely self-directed, culminating in a distinctive compositional style that gradually eschewed traditional tonal frameworks. Schoenberg's works often faced public backlash due to their increasing dissonance and complexity, yet he gained support from notable figures like Gustav Mahler and Richard Strauss. Throughout his career, he developed the twelve-tone technique, a form of serialism that profoundly influenced modern composition and became a hallmark of the Second Viennese School. His artistic journey also intersected with visual arts, notably expressing expressionism through both music and painting. Following the rise of the Nazi regime, Schoenberg emigrated to the United States, where he continued to teach and compose, expressing his renewed Jewish faith through works such as "Kol nidre." Despite facing personal and professional challenges, his legacy remains significant, with enduring impacts on musical theory and practice that continue to resonate in contemporary music. Schoenberg passed away on July 13, 1951, leaving behind a rich tapestry of artistic contributions that transformed the landscape of classical music." (EBSCO, McGeary, Thomas).
