The Sport of Queens
- London: Michael Joseph, 1957
First UK Edition/First Printing; A Near Fine book in a Near Fine dust jacket. An exceptionally well preserved copy of this title, the first published work by Francis, an autobiography from the author that would establish himself as one of the great writers of the 20th Century. Francis discusses his early years learning to ride hunters and jumpers, his time in the RAF, and his subsequent career as a jockey, which eventually led him to riding for the Queen. This copy is in near fine condition with only light rubbing to the edges, some faint soiling to the text block, and a previous owner's name to the front free paper; housed in a crisp and bright near fine jacket that shows only mild rubbing to the spine ends, top edges, and corners. A beautiful copy. Not remaindered, not price clipped, not ex-library; in a protective Mylar cover and will ship in a new sturdy box.
