Die Nibelungen (1924) is a seminal two-part German silent fantasy epic directed by Fritz Lang and written by Thea von Harbou. Based on the medieval Nibelungenlied poem, it follows hero Siegfried, who kills a dragon, gains treasure, and is later murdered due to a feud between his wife Kriemhild and Queen Brunhild.
