Will you please accept it as a small token of my gratitude for your thoughtful kindness and precious aid to my wife and myself during our stay in California? We shall never forget our visits to your house and to your ranch, your driving, our conversations. I hope your children are well. With kindest regards and best wishes to you and your husband from us both, Yours sincerely J. G. Beazley." Marie then added to this note, "The lovely coloured photographs of our kind friend H. R. W.
