Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, 1854. Very good. Letter folds, minor spots, a couple nicks.. A manuscript letter from Holmes Hole in Martha's Vineyard, penned in 1854 by the administrator of a man's estate. In the letter, Constant Norton writes to Mr. Joseph Norton, requesting "any papers left in your possession belonging to your father Peter Norton", the deceased. Constant Norton served as a Customs Collector in Edgartown between 1855 and 1860; he maintained the Customs House branch in Holmes Hole. The Norton family was one of the first to settle on Martha's Vineyard. Measures approx. 9.5" by 7.75
