Ippolito Desideri (1684-1733), was a Jesuit missionary who spent time in Lhasa, Tibet, studying language and religion. 'Byuṅ k'uṅs ("The Origin of Living Beings and All Things"), explores Christian theological explanations for the origins of life. It is part of a series of theological works written by Desideri to present Christian doctrine in a way that engaged with Tibetan Buddhist intellectual traditions.
