Light mystery novel set in Italy, a one-off in the genre for this author, who also turned out a number of nonfictional works as well as fiction in other areas. He worked in the publishing industry at Constable & Co. beginning in 1936, and served as the firm's chairman from 1958 until his retirement in 1962. .
