Signed on back Charles Small -- Cashier. Hinton was born in North Carolina and moved to Indiana in 1848. He was a recruiter for various African American regiments during the Civil War and became active in Republican politics after the war, party because of his involvment with the AME Church and the Prince Hall Masons. He was one of two African American delegates at the 1872 Republican National Convention which renominated Ulysses S. Grant for his second term.
