S. recognition of Thomas William Moore as Great Britain's Vice Consul within the state of Rhode Island, as well as the 10th part (number) of Philip Freneau's "Tomo Cheeki, the Creek Indian in Philadelphia." An item of particular interest to us turns up in the meaty news summary on the third page: "On Sunday, 23rd of August, Absalom Jones, a free African, was ordained, by Bishop White, of Philadelphia, to be minister of the African Church in that city, and on the next Sunday entered upon the duties of his office.
