Schalmanac [22 issues]
- Schenectady, NY: Schalmont High School, 1967
Schenectady, NY: Schalmont High School, 1967. Twenty-two issues of the high school newsletter starting in 8.5x11 inch corner stapled mimeographed format and changing to 7x9.5 inch folio newsletter with leaves inlaid by volume two, b&w photos., some slightly confusing numbering with four select issues (#10-13) which are labeled volume 2 and dated 1966, even after volume 2 numbering clearly tansitioned to 1967. These four issues could be actually be volume 1. Present are Volume 1, numbers 1-8 (1966); volume 2, number 1 (1966), 6-14 (rest in 1967); and second selection of volume 2 issues, nos. 10-13 dated in 1966. Throughout, some pen notation on the front cover of vol. 1, no. 1, the back page of vol. 2, no. 1, and some minor pencil marks on vol. 2, no. 6. Linda Thurston had a wide background in computers working as a designer and typographer for two decades at CUNY as well as a computer instructor at NYU. After moving to the Bay Area, she taught design at the Computer Arts Institute in San Francisco. Aside from her artistic endeavors, she helped her husband Mark Klein expose the NSA's illegal and extensive spying on American citizens.
