London: The Office, The London Illustrated News, 1848. First Edition. Full Cloth -- buckram cloth. Near Fine. Folio, 40.5 by 28 cm. Pages 145 to 440. A nice and tight copy of the London news covers politics, sports, culture and general interest. The abundant illustrations include many larger ones, half and full page, which have not infrequently been excised from the periodical to be hung on the wall. The cloth is fairly attractive, and the spine label is of skiver (a thin piece of leather). There are some pages with foxing and the like, but overall the copy is clean and to the extent our copy has been handled, it has been lightly used. The cloth has some soiling, all of which we would regard as minor.
