New York: Harper & Brothers, 1859. Later printin of the 10th edition. 12o. Publisher's blind-stamped cloth; 260pp; frontispiece portrait. Scattered foxing within, slightly heavier to prelims and back-matter, still straight, tight copy, Very Good, with the publisher's binding particularly well-preserved.
A popular volume of literary and social commentary by the noted Virginia legislator and orator William Wirt (1772-1834), originally published serially in the Virginia Argus in 1803. A hugely popular work in its time, Letters went into at least ten editions in the fist half of the 19th century. This printing has nothing in particular to distinguish it, but this is a fresh, readable copy.
