London: Fores [Fores Sporting & Fine Print Repository & Frame Manufactory], 1851. First Edition. Fine. A magnificent naval print, beautifully composed, beautifully hand-colored, soothing and pleasant to the eye, depicting a naval ship on its last days saluting Queen Victoria who was on the Royal Yacht with her consort. Adding a piquancy to the artwork is the detail of the naval ship, de-masted, with the crew's laundry hanging to dry. The Royal Yacht is in the distant background. On a fairly thick card sheet measuring 56 by 68 cm. The engraved depression is 43 by 53 cm. The pictorial area, not including title or captioning, is 31 by 46 cm. There are a few, far from conspicuous, light fox marks. We can not imagine a copy being cleaner than this one.
