By Warhol, Andy
New York: Harcourt Brace Jovanovich Publishers, 1975 First edition, first printing. Publisher's orange cloth-backed yellow paper-covered boards, lettered in black and white, and black endpapers; in the original black dust jacket designed by Herb Lubalin, with a photograph of the author by Philippe Halsman to the front panel, lettered in white, yellow, and black. Near fine book, with light toning to board edges and paper clip residue to top edge of front board; very good or better unclipped dust jacket, with minimal wear to edges, and two paper clip indentations and creasing to top of front panel. With two laid-in promotional pages of "Sayings of Andy Warhol." Overall, a crisp copy of this abstract work. The Philosophy of Andy Warhol is Warhol's second commercially published book, created after he had been established as a major 20th century artist and international celebrity. Although it was professionally published, The Philosophy of Andy Warhol is only marginally more serious than his art books; the text is abstract, more a collection of scattered reflections and thoughts than a cohesive narrative. It covers a variety of subjects, including Warhol's thoughts on his childhood, his life as a celebrity, art, New York, life, and love. The Philosophy of Andy Warhol was largely ghostwritten by Warhol's secretary Pat Hackett, to whom the book is dedicated; in his subsequent commercial publications, Warhol included Hackett as a co-author.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Near Fine/Dust Jacket Included.
