The second artist's book in Contemporary Editions, a series of books and other printed works published by the Library Council of the Museum of Modern Art. Collaboration between noted artist Vija Celmins and essayist Eliot Weinberger, who compiles historical description of the stars. With three etchings by Celmins on handmade gampi paper, including the dustwrapper, inspired by a worn cover of an early 20th century Japanese book (10.5 x 17 inches); the center double gatefold etching, a negative image of the night sky (10.5 x 27.5 inches); and the concluding image, a more traditional etching, composed of sky and stars, (3.25 x 3.5 inches). Texts printed by letterpress on Somerset paper at The Grenfell Press, in English, Arabic, Chinese, Hindi, Japanese, and Maori.
