Florence: Nella Stamp Imp., 1755 First edition. Contemporary vellum with title in manuscript on spine. Octavo. Copper-engraved title-page vignette on title-page, copper-engraved armorial headpiece. Dedication to the poet Giuseppe Bonechi (ca.1715-ca.1795), who wrote librettos, including one for Josef Myslivecek's Bellorofonte. A very good copy. Anton-Filippo Adami was a poet and miscellaneous writer. His topics ranged from agriculture to literary history and criticism. He made a well known translation of Alexander Pope's Essay on Man. The present book contains sonnets, songs, poetic letters, translations, etc. Of special note is a thirty-two page dissertation on dramatic poetry and music in the theatre.
