Wheeler, AL: The compilers, 1902. 8vo. 94 pp. Original printed gray wrappers (badly chipped). First edition. A genealogy of the Wheeler family by the Confederate cavalry commander and his wife. In an appendix (pp. 49-54), Wheeler attempted to rehabilitate the reputation of his ancestor General William Hull, who surrendered Detroit in the War of 1812, was subsequently court-martialled, and was convicted of cowardice and neglect of duty. This pamphlet is quite scarce; OCLC locates several preliminary editions of 24 pages issued with no appendix, but only two copies of this complete edition (New York Public, Minnesota Historical Society).
