Autograph letter signed on mourning stationery
- 1907
Benedikt's response to a letter of condolence--"Your kind note is of special value to me because of our common remembrance and I thank you heartily-also in the name of my family-for it." Benedikt, an Austrian physician, is best remembered for his discovery of "Benedikt's syndrome": paralysis of the oculomotor nerve on one side with intensive trembling of the other side, caused by injury to the fibers of the third nerve and cerebellar paths. See Garrison-Morton 4576 and Garrison's History of Neurology, p. 416.
