They had both been clerks in a bookstore operated by Ebenezer Battelle who had it in 1784 on what was then Marlborough Street. A year Little and Brown were joined by Augustus Flagg, who eventually became the managing partner of the company in 1869 when Mr. Little died (Inventory #: 2580)
