Boston: A. Williams & Co., 1862. Octavo. 267 pp. Brown cloth, gilt-stamped title on spine, yellow endpapers. Binding is worn at edges, with shallow loss at heel and crown, and lower joint starting; upper board has some damp splatter and a couple of irregularly shaped gouges. Clean text but for occasional light foxing. Nonetheless, a solid and very good copy overall. Hersey was convicted and hanged for poisoning (with strychnine) Betsy Tirrell, who was pregnant with his child at the time of her death. (Inventory #: 75442)
