One of the essential books written by this noted political economist. Tucker, a friend of Jefferson, taught at the Univ. of Virginia. The book offered here was written shortly after one of the worst financial panics ever to overtake the new nation. It is a staunch defense of the theory and necessity of a central bank. This copy is accompanied by a two page note in an unidentified hand addressing the constitutional right of the federal governnment to regulate the currency of the nation.
