A printing of the Gospels in Chuvash Turkish using Russian characters. This was a language spoken by several hundred thousand people in the valley of Volga. It is the only printing of any portion of the N. T. in the language. It was printed at the only functioning press in Kazan (operative since 1803) at the Univ. of Kazan. It was preceded by at least three other books; the Koran had appeared in the first year of the press. Darlow-Moule #9390.
