This is the first English translation of vol. 4 of the first editon of Thenard's classic Traité de Chemie Élémentaire. The editor has added additional notes from other volumes of the other original. It was, at the time, one of very few books on chemical analysis in the English language. See Cole #1262 note; Neville II, p. 542 - stating that the book was considered to be "scarce" by Zeitlinger in 1915.
