This can rightfully be considered Dewees' first publication after his dissertation. Dewees has added numerous notes to the text of this translation. An important book (G-M 2655) edited by the author of the first Am. treatise on pediatrics (G-M 6331). It has an additional point of interest for early Am. instrument makers: included in the text is a "scale plate" explanatory leaf for the use of instrument makers as a pattern for the new forceps depicted in the book.
