Sagrin states, "Cited by many later writers, and was the basis of an influential American book on the subject" (Morfit, Perfumery ...., Phila., 1847). She was the author of a series of books on etiquette (notably Manuel des dames .... ) and domestic economy. The book offered here is devoted to perfumes, powders, cosmetics, pomades etc.. The text also covers the manufacture of these products and others, the chemistry for developing new products, marketing, commercial considerations. The plate illus. various apparatus and utensils used in manufacture. The first edition of the Roret Manuel appeared in 1825 with Dufour as author. This 1834 printing is a new book following the model of Dufour. The title page states the original has been extensively revised and augmented.
