Sicilian Roundabout
- Hardcover
- New York: Coward-McCann, 1952
New York: Coward-McCann, 1952. Hardcover. Very Good. Hardcover. This book was published in 1952, based on the author's visit to Sicily in 1950, shortly after World War II. According to the dust jacket, the author wanted to help correct the impression that Sicily was just a mass of rubble after the war. He points out that very few works of antiquity or historical importance were touched during the war. Bonner first spent a winter in Sicily prior to World War I, when he became interested in Sicily's people, myths, legends, and history. This book is not a travel guide, but a compilation of travel sketches, a postwar description of locales, and personal reminiscences of earlier visits. Quarto. 193 pages, including index. Sicilian maps on front and rear pastedowns and free endpapers. Black dust jacket with title in green to front and spine panels, and photo of Mount Etna on front panel. Price-clipped. Travel. TRA210231.
